Canada Trip

Wow! Canada, or at least Vancouver BC, is really cool! We went on a suspension/rope bridge that rocked like crazy, walked in the treetops, and learned how to talk with a fan...well...not really...its was a skit thing they put on. We also went to Grouse Mountain and saw two orphaned grizzly bears, saw flacons, hawks, and owls fly, saw the world-famous lumberjack show (seriously! people from Italy and France were there!), and sat in the Theatre in the Sky! The stuff to do there was awesome! The hotels were kinda weird...there was a shared bathroom kinda like living in a dorm again (good memories). I also have a question for those of you that live in Canada...When my family and I were driving in the streets and going through police checkpoints, sometime the greenlights on the signals were flashing/blinking...what does that signify? Not all the greenlights flashed/blinked, only some did...and it was only the greenlights, not the yellow or red. So what does this mean? This was puzzling us the entire time we were there.
Cheers everyone and hope everyone's doing ok!

P.S. I'll post my pics soon, my SIMUW pics and my Canada pics

Reunion

Hi
The reunion is on sunday 10am at metrotown, burnaby in front of the Chapters (on the inside not the outside) You can see the Chapters on Kingsway. Bring anything we can play. That includes Joel to bring his "awesome" card game. There is a theatre and playdium. If you are unsure about anything, contact me.

Thanks,
Owen

Man . . . I could watch this thing all day

Flipping Disgusting

So I was walking down the sidewalk in downtown, Spokane, and I found the grossest thing in the entire world: poo (human), smeared along the sidewalk. Just wondering if this was normal for a city, or it was one of those Spokane things.

The proposed date for the reunion is on sunday. I'm waiting for response from jimmy and scott. Please tell me if you are coming or not and do you have any ideas about what we can do.

Thanks,
Owen

Euchre

Hey all,
Just wanted to tell people that there is a website to play Euchre online: www.pogo.com. All you need is a username (which is easy to set up) and you can play any game on their website...probably including Go.
Hope everyone enjoyed the reunion!
Cheers,
Kunal

GO

Jeffrey found this Go site http://kgs.kiseido.com/en_US/ where you can play Go without downloading anything. If you are interested in playing or learning Go. Just tell me.

Pets (or rather an excuse to put up pictures)

Yeah. I really just wanted to see if the picture thing worked, so I'm putting up some pictures of my pets (just so you all believe me: I really do own all these... or used to, at least). Just kidding about the deer thingie, too. I don't even know what that is... And whoever the admin is, delete the post if it uses too much bandwith or if there's any problem, etc. Pic of big snake coming soon!

Phase Plane!

Wow! The weirdest thing just happened to me! I was helping my dad mow the lawn and the wheels made an impression in the moist grass. When we finished, the impressions looked like a phase plane from Nathan Kutz's class! It was so COOL!!!

Anyways, tell me how the reunion was. I can't make it. My parents already have plans (GRRRR!!)
Cheers,
Kunal

canadian reunion

For canadians, i'm thinking about a reunion. Just wondering, who might be interested?

At least Jessica Alba is still hot

I just got dragged to seeing Fantastic 4 w/ my little brother and sister . . . again
I'd say whether it sucked more the first time or the second time . . . but I slept through most've Monty's class, so I have trouble comparing sets of infinite size
Just wondering, are there any ManUtd fan over here?

Saturday Reunion

So I've kinda been talking to people about what to do on Saturday, and some of us thought it'd be fun to meet at about 10:00am, have a picnic at Downtown Bellevue Park for lunch, hang out around Bellevue Square, and then go to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. Does that sound good to people? If you can go, post something, or email me so I can plan stuff, and you don't necessarily have to arrive at 10 or stay the entire time. And post if you need a ride because I'm sure that we can find some kind person to give you a ride if need be.

o man some1's gonna pay

Alright speak up
WHO BURNED DOWN MY IGLOO??????
what sucks is now i cn't study for psats with anyone. I feel almost ambulatory at home hear and i just can't summon enough motivation to augment my efforts at studying. OUr ancillary study group at simuw seemed very trenchant for the somewhat arbitrary time it was in place. god im board.

guys guys!! funny math quote:

Ask her to wait a moment - I am almost done. Carl Friedrich Gauss (1777-1855) , while working, when informed that his wife is dying.

Mathematicians are like Frenchmen: whatever you say to them they translate into their own language and forthwith it is something entirely different. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832)

and a serious one:

I am become death, shatterer of worlds. Robert J. Oppenheimer (1904-1967) , citing from the Bhagavadgita, after witnessing the world's first nuclear explosion

What's up people

How is it going everyone? My days are pretty boring. there is no one to say OH yeah to and that sucks. Hope everyone is having fun.
Keep in touch

Forever ManUtd, Owen

Hey you guys I hope you are all having fun with the little you have left.

Hello Everyone

So it was a nice train ride up Canadia, and I thought I sleep walked to Vancouver the next day I wake up (OMG!). So nice to have a SimUW blog as refuge from the summer talking to all my favorite people on earth. I found Semonti's assasin pin in my toiletries bag, I guess it was Henry who shoved it in. Take care everyone!

P.S. You are awesome Kunnal. This Blog rocks!

SIMUW on AOPS

Saturday Reunion

Hey guys,

Thanks to Kunal for making this. It rocks, and it has a pretty good color scheme too ;-). Hope we can all use it to stay in touch. For pictures, this would work, although starting an MSN group would also be a good idea. An alumni page would be cool, but why couldn't we just email them about this one?

So, the reunion on Saturday is at BelSquare. Where at Belsquare, and when? I seem to recall Edward saying he would post details at some point...this is as good a place as any to do it (and send out an email too, probably).

Also, if anyone's free, I'm free this week to do whatever - go see a movie, dance party (again :-) or just hang out. It's a pretty cool thing when you thought you had 2 weeks of summer, and now they've turned into 3, plus one of them is not going to be wasted in CA away from SIMUW people. So IM me up, phone me up, and generally make my life busier and happier, k?

Last thing before this post starts turning into an essay (omg it already happened. NO! ...anyway) it would be really cool to schedule a reunion later in the year for everyone. Before next summer. I was talking with some of you about it, and I think we ended up suggesting Bellingham as a fairly central place for everybody - especially since there are so many people from Canadia, and not too many from down south (I love you too, Kunal and Basham). The problem with that is coordinating a time where most people could come - probably a Saturday of a vacation break would be good - like Christmas break, but everybody's busy then. Anyway, just a thought.

See you all later people.

Hello from scenic right-next-to-the-U!

Hiyo, all, this is Ezra!

Kunal, as has been expressed already, you rock.

AOL is evidently not a Blogger fan - this page crashed many times when I was trying to get on last night - but it's all straightened out now, and I look forward to hanging out with everyone here!

to those inclined to use cryptic names: please include your real name in your profile so people like me who are a bit slow on the guess can get it...

AIM vs. MSN

First of all... I am very glad everyone is using this blog to stay in touch. It makes me feel accomplished. Anyways, in response to Joel's remark about everyone getting MSN, why doesn't everyone get AIM? Its just as good if not better! Plus, you dont have to download it like MSN.

Picture Upload

Hey ...
Can everyone upload his/her pictures here?

Speech

I must say that it took me far too long to figure out how to actually post something, probably a result of my total incompetence with computers. Anyway, since some people have asked for it already, if anybody wants a copy of the speech that CrystalAnn and I gave, feel free to email me for it, but be forewarned that the ending wasn't written down.

MSN?

since msn is far superior to aim, can everyone just download it so everyone doesn't have to get both?

Gross

Every1 here knows that woppers or whatever they're called are gross right?

AIM SCREEN NAME

guys guys! and girls, i have an aim screen name now that i think about it. it is aristoclez. a- r- i- s- t- o- c- l- e- z. thanks, by.

hey people? what's up?
